$3,500 per month or $50k (includes bonus) per year.

How long have you stayed in your previous job before joining insurance Biz?
6 years in food industry

Was it more of a Push or Pull Factor? Can you elaborate a little?
Push:

Not productive environment
Result = hard work – Politics – red tapes – etc
Low pay and slow increment
Not sure the significance of my contribution to human kind (including love ones and myself)

Pull:

Result= hardwork
I’m in control of the result
Direct help to individuals and their family

How long have you been in insurance Business?
Since September 2005

What was the biggest fear before joining the biz? How did you overcome it?
No sales experience. Overcome by learn from others, leverage on my background in technical training. So sell base on logic and facts.
Not big enough market. Overcome by doing the right thing for client and get referral. Expand range of services like GI. Going new markets like corporate sales.
Stigma of the industry: Overcome by having the ambition of overturning this perception.

What are the key challenges when you first join? How did you cope & overcome it?

I faced all the possible challenges everyone faces and more:

Limited warm market
No sales experiences
No experience in financial planning
Fear of objections and rejections
Sigma of insurance agent
Many more

But I think the most important challenge we need to handle and all the rest of the challenges will go away is ourselves. With a positive mindset to learn to overcome all the internal challenges like fear, procrastination, laziness, disorganise, only think for ourselves and not for client etc… I was able to naturally overcome all the rest of the external challenges.
