Was it more of a Push or Pull Factor? Can you elaborate a little?
Push. As my income ranges from $50k to $60k for the past 10 years. I don’t see any future with the company for further progression especially if I am intending to achieve a 6-digit annual income. Lastly, I am in the same position of the sales manager for 5years & I do not wish to stay in the same position for the next 10years which I saw some of my senior “demonstrating” that.

How long have you been in insurance Business?
I’ve been in this business since 2005.

What was the biggest fear before joining the biz? How did you overcome it?

  • No Basic salary, everything must start from scratch after I left my first job which I’ve stayed for 10 years since my completion of National Service.
  • A good mentor is extremely important as he had helped me overcome various challenges & patiently impart the necessary skill I require in this business.
  • In order to overcome the financial instability fear, I worked very hard in my first 2 years to build my clientele via various segment/method + renewal income portfolio.

In your own opinion, what are the key attributes of your success?

  • Identify & ignite the desire that motivate me to achieve what I value most
  • Instil self-discipline to focus what I want to achieve & set timeline to it

What are the key challenges when you first join? How did you cope & overcome it?

Key challenge was understanding the business & learning the right skill within short timeframe in order to start my practice and get things going. I went through the stage of doubting my own advice provided to my first few clients. In the end, my coaching manager did a good job by demonstrating a very convincing advisory process which my client later benefited from it. After that day, no turning back for me as I know this is the career I wanted for lifetime.
