What was your Last drawn Income Range before joining insurance Biz?
S$1200 – S$1500 as a telemarketer

How long have you stayed in your previous job before joining insurance Biz?
I was an undergraduate, prior to joining as a consultant I was a telemarketer for close to a year, calling and scheduling appointments for consultant

Was it more of a Push or Pull Factor? Can you elaborate a little?
More of a pull factor. Back then, the insurance company have a newcomer scheme that provided S $1,500 monthly allowances, so I thought why not try it out.

How long have you been in the Insurance Business?
Since 2013, this is my 9th year in the business

What was the biggest fear before joining the business? And how did you overcome it?
There was not much fear before joining the insurance line. It is more of faith, in which I have been holding on and braving forward with it.

What was the biggest fear before joining the biz? How did you overcome it?
“Who to sell to?”, “How do I find my clients?”
At the young age of 23, I did not have much network and friends to sell t0, so I spent a lot of time acquiring clients through roadshows and cold calls. Fortunately, I was able to provide value to them and from then on referrals started to come in.

In your own opinion, what are the key attributes of your success?
In my earliest days, I believed that in this industry the two key attributes are persistent and consistent. Strong Desire to succeed and determination to learn. In a sales job, discipline is also key.

What are some of the awards you have achieved?
MDRT 2016, MDRT 2021 , 2013 Top 20 Rookie in my organisation. In 2014 and 2015, I was the Top 20 Existing Consultant in my organisation.

What is your specialization in insurance?
I mainly specialise in retirement planning. I find great joy helping individuals and families to retire ideally 5-10 years earlier.
AEPP certified, I do estate planning such as Will and LPA for my clients as well.

What are the key challenges when you first join? How did you cope & overcome it?
Naturally I wasn’t a smooth talker, who can connect and communicate very well with anyone. The only way to overcome it was through constant practising, I truly believe this saying that “practise makes progression”.

Time management was another challenge for me. Back then when I was still an undergraduate, I had to juggle between lectures, examinations, and work, as a result my first 2 years were spent mainly working and studying.
